Meet Shamia Chowdhury, Counseling Intern

Hi everyone! My name is Shamia, and I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. I am passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and young adults as they navigate life's challenges, build confidence, and develop healthy coping skills.

I have a special interest in incorporating creative approaches into the therapeutic process, including art therapy and play therapy techniques. I believe that creativity can be a powerful tool for self-expression, healing, and personal growth, especially when words feel difficult to find. By meeting clients where they are and honoring their unique ways of communicating, I strive to make therapy engaging, meaningful, and accessible.

My goal is to create a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe being themselves. I value building genuine connections and helping individuals explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences at their own pace. Whether a client is working through anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, or simply seeking greater self-understanding, I am committed to supporting them with compassion, empathy, and curiosity.

I believe that every person has strengths that can be nurtured and developed, and I feel honored to walk alongside clients as they discover those strengths and work toward their goals. I look forward to helping clients build resilience, increase self-confidence, and create meaningful change in their lives.

Shamia provides counseling services under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional as part of her graduate training program.
