Meet Elden Flores, LMSW

I’m Elden. When I’m not in session, I’m usually planning my next trip, reading up on my philosophy, watering my plants or sharing a laugh over some sushi. My love for travel and the exposure I received growing up to all the cultures NYC had to offer, deeply influences the way I see the world—and how I show up as a therapist. I believe in radical acceptance, a fearless and supportive head-on approach, and the importance of thinking outside of the box.

As a therapist, I work with individuals who often feel lost, stuck, or hopeless as they find themselves in cyclical patterns of negative thoughts, emotions and  behavior. Many of my clients are young adults or are currently navigating midlife and they experience everything from anxiety, depression, PTSD, or the obstacles of borderline personality disorder.

My work also centers on relationship struggles—whether it’s family stress, romantic hurdles, or the conflict that happens within ourselves. I believe that true change demands acceptance and that you already have the capacity to find peace, balance and all the answers you need, even if it doesn’t feel that way right now.

Whether they’ve been carrying these feelings for years or just now realizing their impacts; I am here to meet them where they are—with encouragement, honesty, and zero judgment. My aim is always to provide an affirming space where your authentic self is seen and celebrated—I’m here to listen, learn, and support as we take on this journey together.

My approach is greatly influenced by East Asian philosophy and grounded in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), along with tools like EMDR and motivational interviewing (Having trained with the amazing Courtney Kidd!). I’ve also led and co-led therapy groups for individuals living with serious mental health challenges like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder. These experiences have shaped my ability to sit with tough emotions and effectively guide others through their own.

I am not a one-size-fits-all kind of therapist. I’m straightforward, honest and deeply invested in your growth. If you need someone to challenge you, celebrate your wins loudly, and stand next to you as you make difficult changes while still always pushing you to make the next step—I’m here. Let’s get started.
