Attachment Trauma
Sandra Skinner is a trauma-informed therapist who works with children, adolescents, parents, and adults to heal the roots of emotional and relational distress. Her approach is grounded in attachment theory and EMDR therapy, with a strong belief that many current struggles are shaped by unresolved past experiences and nervous system dysregulation.
Sandra brings a unique background in school-based social-emotional learning, having worked on the development of an SEL program for middle school students in one of the largest school districts in the country. Through this work, she saw firsthand how challenges such as behavioral concerns, anxiety, and disengagement in school were often rooted in past trauma and environments that did not provide emotional safety or secure attachment. This experience continues to inform her clinical work and deepens her understanding of both children and families.
Sandra specializes in trauma and attachment-focused therapy, including EMDR, to help clients process experiences that may still be shaping their emotions, relationships, and sense of self. She particularly enjoys working with parents who feel overwhelmed or disconnected from their child, as well as individuals who notice recurring patterns in their relationships, work life, or emotional responses that feel hard to change.
She views symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD through a trauma-informed lens, recognizing that these experiences often reflect underlying attachment injuries rather than personal failure. Drawing on attachment research, Sandra helps clients learn how to become a secure base and safe haven—for themselves and for the people they care about.
Sandra’s style is warm, thoughtful, and collaborative. She works with clients of all ages who are ready to move beyond coping and toward meaningful healing, growth, and more connected relationships.
